Care and Maintenance
Care and Maintenance
Alumilite resin fountain pens are extremely durable. The only care needed for the resin bodies is the occasional wiping down with a damp cloth.
The converters will need occasional cleaning. Especially when changing ink colors. To clean simply submerge in water and flush with water using the plunger mechanism. If needed, the chrome rings will unscrew to allow removal of the plunger and access to scrubbing the inside of the converter.
The steel Bock and Jowo nibs are very reliable but they are precision instruments that can acquire some attention from time to time. All of my Bock nibs are Tuned by Kirk Speer at Penrealm. I tune all of my Jowo nibs in house. As precision instruments, these will acquire occasional cleaning and maintenance, including at initial startup. MIf your pen doesn't perform the way you think it should please let me work with you to get it going. My number one goal is to make sure your pen meets your standards.
Nibs can also be personalized to your individual writing style. There are several very good nib grinders out there with a variety of different grind profiles to suit just about everyone.
To access the nib and converter, unscrew the grip section from the pen body. The converter can be pulled straight from the back of the nib housing twisting slightly. The nib unit can be flushed with a syringe or bulb while still in the section. To remove the nib unit from the section, simply unscrew it.
